  •  Jester Park: O.W.L.S. Older Wiser Livelier Seniors – The Art of Conservation: a Visit with Ding Darling
    11:00 am. Tom Milligan, as Jay N. “Ding” Darling visits with the audience, as an old friend, in his 11th office at The Des Moines Register.

Wednesday, June 7

  • Library: Coffee Wednesdays
    10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Join us around the fireplace for a cup of coffee or iced tea.
  • Jester Park: Nature’s Story Hour – Birding Bonanza
    12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. Bring your picnic lunch, blanket and family for an hour of nature stories and activities with a PCC Naturalist. This family friendly program is free and all ages are welcome.  See more >
    6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Located inside Polk City United Methodist Church. Clinic staffed by volunteer healthcare providers. No insurance filed, $5 donation appreciated. Come in for sports physicals, school physicals, immunizations, or ill visits.
  • Jester Park: Wild Edibles
    6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Ever wonder what those pesky weeds in your yard are good for? Come take a walk on the wild edibles side! You’ll learn to identify the common, edible plants around you and get a few new recipes to try at home! – See more >
  • Library: Wednesday Book Club
    7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. WHAT IF the Underground Railroad was a literal railroad?

Thursday, June 8

  • Polk City Farmer’s Market
    4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Town Square. Thursdays May 25th – August 31st.
  • Library: Sit N Stitch
    6:00 pm. Bring your needlework and join us for the evening! All levels of stitchers welcome.
  • Library: Adult Coloring
    6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. Join us for a RELAXING evening. Coloring pages from books designed especially for adults as well as colored pencils will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own! 18 and older, or 16-17 when accompanied by an adult.

Friday, June 9

  • Library: Men’s Coffee
    10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Gentlemen, drop in for some coffee and conversation. Enjoy spending time and having a few laughs or interesting discussions with other men from around the area.

  • Jester Park: Wild Night Life Hike
    8:30 pm – 10:30 pm. Join us for a campfire program about the wild night life in Jester Park. A short hike will follow as we search for some of these nocturnal animals. – See more > 

Saturday, June 10

  • Jester Park: Outdoor Cooking
    9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
    Participants will learn the basics of outdoor cooking techniques including cast iron Dutch ovens, tin turtles/hobo packs in the campfire, and pudgy pies. Become comfortable with outdoor stove technology, old and new. Come hungry and be prepared to help make and enjoy a meal. Pre-registration required; deadline is June 5. Fee $10.  See more >
