Happy Anniversary P&M Apparel!

Celebrate 30 Years with P&M Apparel June 16 from  4-7pm

P&M Apparel is celebrating its 30th year in business with a customer appreciation party from 4-7 on June 16, 2017 at their location of 206 W Van Dorn St in Polk City, Iowa. The party will feature a giant bounce house, tours of the shop, free print-yourself shirts, $1 soft-serve ice cream cones and opportunities to raise money for clothes given to the homeless community in Central Iowa. P&M Apparel will also be hosting a two-day sale with 30% off all merchandise in the retail shop on Thursday and Friday.

The event will run simultaneously with the Polk City Chamber of Commerce’s Sounds on the Square, so guests can also enjoy live music, food trucks and extended hours from surrounding businesses, fully showcasing some of the best parts of Polk City. P&M Apparel moved to Polk City from Webster City nearly 20 years ago and has played a big role in helping support and develop the community from the beginning, including building the Sounds on the Square series hosted every summer. Supporting the local businesses that have supported us will always be a top priority at P&M Apparel, and we are constantly looking for new ways to further those relationships.

P&M Apparel started in the basement of Phyllis and Melvin Richardson’s home in Webster City in 1987 as a small order embroidery business. They quickly grew out of their basement and established a shop in central Webster City in the fall of 1991. When their daughter Kay Ferin moved to Ankeny, Iowa in 1997, and joined the family business, they moved to Polk City to be closer to Kay’s home and school-aged kids.

Once they were established in Polk City, they began expanding their equipment to include services such as screen printing, banners, higher quantities of embroidery, fusion printing, quilting and promotional products, offering a full range of custom products to help drive the branding of business, teams and organizations. Kay and her husband Rob took ownership of the business in 2012 and Kay’s daughter, Megan Griffith, joined as art director the same year. Kay’s son Ryan Toney joined the team as production czar and final family member in 2015, completing the three-generation-run family business. The custom apparel company also has three full-time production and two part-time sales employees.

P&M Apparel is teaming up with one of our sock manufacturers to create a program this summer called “Socks on the Street,” which will donate moisture-wicking socks and other needed clothes to the homeless community of Central Iowa. Guests will have an opportunity to buy a sock and write a note of encouragement to the future owner. This program will kick off during our 30th anniversary party and run through August.
