MONDAY MAY 7, 2018

City Hall: 

All meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 112 3rd St. All meetings are open to the public and anyone interested in them is encouraged to attend. Click here for agendas & minutes >

  • Council Meetings: City Council 2nd & 4th Mondays at 6:00 pm.
  • Parks Commission: 1st Monday at 6:00 pm.
  • Planning and Zoning: 3rd Monday at 6:00 pm.

Library: 

  • Story Time: 10:30 am Ages 2-5  Join Ms. Brittany for stories, songs, and a craft, with a new theme each week! This month we have story time on the zoo, teeth, dinosaurs, frogs, and ice cream! All ages are welcome.
  • Library Board Meeting: 6:30-7:30 pm Meetings are open to the public.

TUESDAY MAY 8, 2018

Library: 

  • Story Time: 10:30 am Ages 2-5  Join Ms. Brittany for stories, songs, and a craft, with a new theme each week! This month we have story time on the zoo, teeth, dinosaurs, frogs, and ice cream! All ages are welcome.
  • Adult Coloring Springtime Flowers: 6:00 pm. Join us for a relaxing evening of coloring! Colored pencils and gel pens will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own. *17 and over.

WEDNESDAY MAY 9, 2018

Library: 

  • Coffee Wednesdays: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Join us around the fireplace for a cup of coffee or iced tea.

THURSDAY MAY 10, 2018

Library:

  • Sit N Stitch: 6:00 – 8:00 pm Bring your current project, and join the stitching around the fireplace.
  • DIY Paper Art Butterflies6:00 pm. Bring Spring inside! Join us in making paper butterflies from cardstock. Two different styles will be demonstrated. Pre-Registration required 984-6119. 17 and over.

FRIDAY MAY 11, 2018

Citywide:

  • Non-Recycling Week

Library:

  • Men’s Coffee: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Gentlemen, drop in for some coffee and conversation. Enjoy spending time and having a few laughs or interesting discussions with other men from around the area

SATURDAY MAY 12, 2018

  • Women’s Day out! Sands Chiropractic 10:00 am

Library:

  • Daddy-Daughter Hair Program: 10:30 a.m. For mother’s day this year, give moms the gift of a day off! We’re inviting dads to bring their daughters and learn how to do 2 or 3 basic hairstyles! The Cutting Edge will be here to demonstrate the styles and we will have fun treats too! Please bring a comb or brush. Registration is required.

City Hall: 

  • Polk City’s 2017 Water Quality Report. In compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, Polk City provides a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) annually on our website. Every citizen has a right to know where their water comes from and what’s in it. This report highlights the great quality of water that the City provides to our citizens. ONGOING COMMUNITY EVENTS & INFORMATION:

Polk City United Methodist Church Free Medical Clinic  6:00 pm – 8:00 pm first and third Wednesday each month Clinic staffed by volunteer healthcare providers. No insurance filed, $5 donation appreciated. Come in for sports physicals, school physicals, immunizations, or ill visits.

Polk City United Methodist Church Free outdoor mini-food pantry (NP Cupboard) has food available 24 hours a day. Please take what yo need.


ORGANIZATIONS:

Library Board Meetings: First Monday of the Month 6:30 pm.

Kiwanis Meetings: First and third Thursday nights at Miller park at 6:30 pm, Satelite meeting at the Reising Sun Cafe First Thursday of the month at 8:00 am.

Polk City Women Meetings: 7 pm, 1st Tuesday of every Month at the Miller Park Shelter House. All Women of Polk City our Welcome. Facebook page and website www.polkcitywomen.org for more information!

Operative Lodge #308 (Masons): Meets every 2nd Monday of the month for dinner at 6:30 PM at the Lodge building next to City Hall. Dinner is open to anyone interested in joining. Email us at Operative308@gmail.com for more information.

Polk City Historical Society: The Big Creek Historical Society announced the opening dates of the museum for 2018.

  • Sunday May 13, 2 to 4
  • Sunday September 9, 2 to 4
  • Sunday October 14, 2 to 4
In addition the museum will open monthly during the Polk CITY Farmer’s Market. Those dates are:
  • June 14, 5 to7
  • July 12, 5 to 7
  • August 9, 5 to 7
