  • Story Time: 10:30 am Ages 2-5  Join Ms. Brittany for stories, songs, and a craft, with a new theme each week! This month we have story time on the zoo, teeth, dinosaurs, frogs, and ice cream! All ages are welcome.

  • Sit N Stitch: 6:00 – 8:00 pm Bring your current project, and join the stitching around the fireplace.
  • Fifty Shades of Blue & Gray 6:30 – 8:00 pm Sex & the Civil War…Some people still think the Victorians were repressed, prudish, and avoided sex whenever possible.  If that were so, how do we explain the growth of prostitution and pornography during the Civil War?  This program provides an interesting, entertaining, and revealing look at Victorian society, sex, and the soldier in the War between the States. Presented by Kathy Wilson Historical Perspectives.

ON-GOING COMMUNITY EVENTS & INFORMATION:

Polk City United Methodist Church Free Medical Clinic  6:00 pm – 8:00 pm first and third Wednesday each month Clinic staffed by volunteer healthcare providers. No insurance filed, $5 donation appreciated. Come in for sports physicals, school physicals, immunizations, or ill visits.

Polk City United Methodist Church Free outdoor mini-food pantry (NP Cupboard) has food available 24 hours a day. Please take what yo need.


ORGANIZATIONS:

Library Board Meetings: First Monday of the Month 6:30 pm.

Kiwanis Meetings: First and third Thursday nights at Miller park at 6:30 pm, Satelite meeting at the Reising Sun Cafe First Thursday of the month at 8:00 am.

Polk City Women Meetings: 7 pm, 1st Tuesday of every Month at the Miller Park Shelter House. All Women of Polk City our Welcome. Facebook page and website www.polkcitywomen.org for more information!

Operative Lodge #308 (Masons): Meets every 2nd Monday of the month for dinner at 6:30 PM at the Lodge building next to City Hall. Dinner is open to anyone interested in joining. Email us at Operative308@gmail.com for more information.

Polk City Historical Society: The Big Creek Historical Society announced the opening dates of the museum for 2018.

  • Sunday May 13, 2 to 4
  • Sunday September 9, 2 to 4
  • Sunday October 14, 2 to 4
In addition the museum will open monthly during the Polk CITY Farmer’s Market. Those dates are:
  • June 14, 5 to7
  • July 12, 5 to 7
  • August 9, 5 to 7
